Mike Savage

Mike Savage is a professor of sociology and has held the Martin White Professor of Sociology at the London School of Economics and Political Science since 2014. Previously, Savage taught at the University of Manchester and the University of York. In 2007, Savage was elected Fellow of the British Academy (FBA), the UK›s national academy for the humanities and social sciences.

Savage‹s research interests include the analysis of social stratification, inequality, and class. Savage is founding director of CRESC - the ESRC Centre for Research on Socio-Cultural Change, a joint research initiative of the University of Manchester and the Open University. Savage was a member of the Sociology Research Evaluation Exercises (RAE 2008 and REF 2013). From 1993 to 2016, Savage was on the editorial board of The Sociological Review, the oldest sociological journal in the United Kingdom. From 2001 to 2007, Savage was editor of the journal.
